Supper yesterday

One of the smartest things I ever did was get E a subscription to Bon Appetit for Christmas one year. He has been renewing it ever since and, I think, has renewed it again for the next three years. He spent most of yesterday in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove. This is his hobby and every now and then he goes beyond the call of duty (he does all the cooking for those of you new to my blog).

Here is the menu from the Dec. 08 magazine and is called White Christmas

Starters: Christmas Caipirnhas (Brazil's national cocktail) scheduled for today
Chile-roasted almonds (they were so good)

Main and Sides: Standing rib roast, spinach-porcini stuffing, Irish whiskey gravy and horseradish cream; potato-mushroom gratin; sheery vinegar and molasses glazed carrots; broccolini with pecan brown butter

We skipped desert but had he made it, this is what it would have been: chocolate-coffee gingerbread with hazelnut poached pears. E says we will have this and very soon.

Are you hungry yet? I am!

The one picture of the pot with flames is suppose to be on fire...had it been me cooking, the smoke alarms would have been going off and everyone would have thought it was time to eat. lol

Hope you have a great Sunday!

I love to read your blog entries about your husband and his cooking and your relationship with him - it is heart-warming to to read how much you think of him and how you each give each other the space to have your special hobbies, but you also spend a lot of quality time together enjoying life.
