Winter Retreat (Oleano State Park, Fl.)Day One

Oleno State Park has to be one of the most beautiful places that we have been to on retreat. The Santa Fe river meanders through the park and exits into the earth about a mile or so from the lodge into a slow whirl pool and emerges again about two miles away. The hanging bridge is so lovely and we have such fun with photo shoots there.

The road trip from Kip's in St. Pete where we all gathered to Oleno was uneventful compared to the road trip home. We sang, laughed, solved a vast majority of the world's problems and enjoyed each others' company. We made a couple of stops for food and to gather more supplies (like we really needed any more) for our upcoming three days of non-stop scrap booking. We arrived well after dark, despite our best intentions and found out we were not staying in one of the open air cabins but in the park's infirmary. I am sure this was due to our collective ages (although the young 'un, Gerri-anne, pulls our average down a bit) and the fact we whine excessively! lol. We had a two bed room two bath, with complete kitchen abode and, while we did not have heat, we did have a massive fireplace in our living room and walls clear to the roof.

Now, about whomever remarked to G-a that she had their sympathy for driving the bus from the senior home, I'll get you my pretty! Not nice at all...lol. And the saying is "driving Miss Daisy" not "Driving those crazies"!

We got unpacked and set up both in the crop room at the lodge and in our cozy little home away from home and stayed up well past two scrapping and talking and seeing people we haven't seen since the last retreat and some, like our dear Jayne and Susie, far longer than that.

So, I leave you, dear readers, with a few pictures of the beauty that surrounded us this past weekend. More tomorrow!

(and thank heavens for E...he had the heat cranked and the house all spiffed up for my return...gotta love that man!)

Get better quick, Kipper!
