our day in St. Pete, Florida, that is. The weather was perfection: not too hot, not too cool, sunshine and a few puffy white clouds reflected in the waters of the Bay. The company was perfect: our dear friends, Janet and Bob drove up from Anna Maria Island, our wonderful, Clare, our resident sweet chef, E and yours truly arrived from Tarpon Springs. The events of the day were perfect too: a viewing of the Chihuly exhibit with the beautiful illuminated glass (some of which we saw in the Botanical Garden in St. Louis before Kristen got married in the Rose Garden there), then a horse drawn carriage ride compliments of Bob and Janet (the Millers are always a class act) to the Fresco's Waterfront Bistro, a favorite of the Millers, and then drinks on the porch at the historic and tres chic Vinoy Hotel under the fans with soft jazz playing.
We've made plans with the Millers, of course, for lunch dates and weekend visits. They will be back and forth to Pennsylvania a few times this season as they are building the most amazing new home there. And we've made some tentative plans with our Clare too. We are hoping to visit her in NZ in the fall of 2012. Next year is out as it is the Rugby World's Cup and travel will be prohibitive but a year from this coming November would be wonderful.
Pam B, we did toast to you at the small sidewalk cafe where we were joined by the Millers before we saw the glass exhibit and again at the Vinoy!
If you had half as memorable day as me, you had a great one!
