Riding the Pinellas Trail

Ever since we picked up E's new bike, we have been riding fools. He has really been enjoying this now that he has a good bike and one on which his knees are not constantly hitting the handle bars! Yesterday we did a bit over ten miles, which for him is a record. We entered the Trail through the North Anclote River park which is next door to where we live. The Trail, which runs from a bit north of us 33 miles south to St. Pete, is an old railroad bed which has been converted like many around the US into wonderful rides for bikers.

We do not look like your average fanatical bikers whom we have discovered over our past few miles to be very intense in their pursuit of miles and speed. E and I are a bit more of the leisure riders but we are working on building up our distance and endurance. These more serious bikers, dressed in their gel seated black tight shorts and garish shirts, with their sun glasses and pointy helmets are so focused that they often don't even see us to wave at the 'old folks'. E and I are out to change that...dressed in our old gym shorts and sweats for cooler weather, he in his swamp hat and me in my cherished visor that reads, "Got wine?", wave and say good morning to any and all that we happen to see.

So, if you are one of the serious bikers, take a moment to wave back. We could be your parents! lol

I've been having far too much fun creating Christmas cards and layouts with the cool Cosmo Cricket papers. As always, these folks have produced a line of the most usable papers and accessories and in pretty soft colors. A few of us from the Creative Scrap Shack will be revealing our work the Friday after Thanksgiving so be sure to make that a shopping stop as you will want to order it all!

Looks like a lovely place to ride your bikes and you are definitely doing it the right way - friendly and at your own pace. I just read your entry for yesterday too and I am so glad you ended up with the place you did as you seem so happy with it. You're right that things happen for a reason.

Lucky you to live in such a cool place! I'd be one of those serious bikers that you'd pass (and I'm friendly enough to wave!)
It's so great that you're getting out in such a beautiful place!
