Blue Days are turning to aqua...

and life is looking up! I've been in a funk but it seems to be moving on slowly but surely.

I have to type up my directions for my kits for the retreat at the end of January, pack for 3 seperate trips that happen one right after another and pack my kits. I have been working everyday and today I took a break...

I created something fun for my cabin mates at the retreat and, when I did, the cloud over my head started to shift a bit and get puffy as opposed to being filled with rain, sleet and hail.
Maybe doing something for fun and for others is what I have needed all along.

I have given serious thought lately to my postion in this industry and wonder why I keep fighting the odds. Compared to many, many scrappers out there, I am ok at best. I am a good teacher and creative but it takes so much more than that to even get published these days. Many of the more frequently published scrappers have either a graphic arts background or are adept at manipulating the computer. I am just an old retired English teacher! lol

I think I just need to put the fun back in my dysfunctional life to paraphrase Mary Engelbrect! Thanks for all the support you have given me over this past week. You have made a difference in my attitude, believe me.

Never forget, the reason why we love scarpbooking is because it makes us smile! It makes us feel good about ourselves and when you are doing your kits you will be helping other people feel good about themselves. As a teacher you do for other people all the time. And to me, you are very creative and talented. Glad you are feeling a bit better.

rain, sleet, and snow is hard to do here in Florida. You must have really been in a funk. But to quote an oft used phrase, "This too shall pass." Now, if I could just remember that myself.
Corny cheer-up joke: Why did chicken coup have two doors? Because if it had 4 doors it would be a chicke sedan, ARRRR,ARRRR,ARRR!

oops, that last chicken is missing something.

First off, I am glad you are feeling a bit less blue... the color just does not suite you. Secondly I second Ruth, sbing is for fun, to make us smile, not for anyone but lil' ol' you. Final and thrid ... design is in the EYE girl!! Not in a computer, not in expensive papers and ribbons and graphic art programs...it is in the eye and YOU my dear have a GREAT EYE for what is stylish and creative and fun... do not try to fool yourself (or anyone else) you have a God Given Talent and you should not turn away so quickly. In closing...a fave quote of mine:

What you are is God's gift to you, what you do with yourself is your gift to God. -danish proverb

Jules;

You look quite fetching in aqua. I'mm glad you are feeling some better. I don't know about you, but I always learn a lot about myself when I'm down. Darla and Ruth are so right---scrap for yourself and those who love you. I don't think I would ever try to get published. I have seen so many people who love to scrap and then they submit to publications or to design teams and it seems they lose their love of scrapping. It seems to then become "work", not "happy time". You know if you had never been published we would all love you for the kind of person you are and love your projects for the art they are. Period.

Hi Jules. So glad things are looking up for you. You're right that planning the little surprise for the retreat probably helped you. It always makes me feel better to think of something to do for other people I know. As for the rest. You are very talented and I've seen things you have done that are way more creative than some of the pages you see published. I don't quite understand this business, and so that is why I just do my scrapping for myself and my family. Darla said it so well in her comment.

Jules!
I'm glad you are coming out of da funk. Don't give up the hope on your talents and being published. Darla said it best, so I won't be repetitive.
You have been an inspiration to me!
Hang in there, remember it's in God's time!
