There is something to be said for comfort food

It is a cold, blustery day here in Paradise. It reminds me of the first days of winter up North and puts me in the mood for comfort food.

E just asked the usual morning question, "What do you want for supper" (it is not yet nine am...and he is late! lol) and I replied, "Comfort food!". We are now having muffalatas for lunch made on his new penini maker and chili for supper. E puts a dash of cocoa in his chili and it is sooooooo yummy.

Everyone has their faves for chili connoctions. A friend of mine makes the most wonderous white chili but I prefer the old fashioned mix where you throw in cans of beans, tomotoes and chopped sirloin and top the whole thing with fresh onions and tons of cheese. Lots of people crumble crackers but I am a wheat bread and butter gal...two slices slathered for dipping. Is it supper time yet?

Speaking of food, last night we had the most amazing strawberries. It is that season here now and these are locally grown, huge and soooo sweet. It was the topping that made such a delight for the taste buds....a basalmic glaze by Gia Russa that E found at Publics. Oh me oh my!

I had strawberries with balsamic vinegar for the first time a few weeks ago, I have had strawberries all my life but the balsamic vinegar inspiration was to die for. I could have eaten the whole lot if I had not been at a friends place and was trying to be ladylike. Honestly it is hard enough without so much delicious temptations. Your idea of comfort food is interesting, mine usually involves something sugary.

Hi Jules - I know of you first through the CK message board - I read it daily, and only occassionally post but I'v been on it for about 4-5 years now. I also read Kip's blog daily and from that I occasionally hit your blog. Your store possibility sounds very exciting. Your comment about maybe having adjacent stores brought to mind a LSS that I really like up here in Ohio. It's called Red Letter Journals. It's in a historical section of downtown Grove City in a big building called the Farmer's Exchange. It is connected to a cool candle shop and also a jewelry shop. The upstairs of the scrapbook store is used for Yoga classes. It's a great store. They just started these crops once a month called "Relaxation Crops". I haven't been to one, but want to try one out. They offer double the normal crop space, dinner, and you can schedule some pampering things for yourself like a massage, eyelash tinting, etc. I thought this was a cool idea - something gals might like for a ladies night out treat.
They have a website: redletterjournals.com if you'd like to look at it. Anyways, I look forward to hearing about your possible store venture. I'm sure you would do a great job. Jill

Jules,
I don't know about you but I'm ready to move to the Bahamas...where it's warm! Are we sure we're still in Florida?
It was so cold this morning I had to help my neighbor pry his dog from a fire hydrant.
It's so called I saw a lawyer with his hands in his own pocket.
It's almost as cold as a mother-in-law's kiss. :)
Now that I've whined enough for tht whole state, Happy Valentine's Day!
