Day 9 Kusadasi and Ephesus

Our guide met us right outside the ship as scheduled and we began our journey back into time. Ephesus was amazing. We spent three plus hours exploring the ruins and listening to our guide. The tour through the Terrace Houses was self directed and we were so overcome by the sheer magnitude of the excavations. The tiles were incredible and so lovely.

The amphitheater was huge and it is was neat to discover it is still in use for certain events. Because of new construction, concerts were not being held there this season.

We went from Ephesus to the Temple of Diane and then on back to Kusadasi. We had been told how reasonable everything would be in the bazaar but found the aggressiveness of the merchants off putting. We bought our charms, small enameled Turkish shoes and headed back to the ship . We found the main difference between the bazaar and those merchants and those of towns we had previously visited to be most obvious in their reactions to a refusal on our part to come into a shop. In France and Greece and Spain, the merchants had politely wished us good day when we told them we were just looking. In Kusadasi, we were yelled at and our refusal was met with, for the most part, downright rudeness. We saved our money for our next stop.
