I am blessed to be married to an incurable romantic! His one wish for this holiday season was for us to revive an old tradition we started while we were 'courting' (don't you love that word?)...a day for just the two of us to totally immerse ourselves in the holiday spirit.
When we lived in St. Louis we would head to Olde Town St. Charles and shop the lovely little stores that line the cobble stone streets. We would pick out two ornaments for our tree, have a glass of wine at the Winery sitting as close to the outdoor fire places as possible and often have dinner atop the Lewis and Clark Restaurant to watch the reenactment of Las Pasadas (the journey of the pregnant Mary and her beloved husband, Joseph in their search for a place for Mary to give birth).
Once we moved to Ft. Myers, we shifted our Holiday Date to the Friday after Thanksgiving and to 'Tweens Resort for the annual Christmas caroling and display lighting.
Then we moved to here to Tarpon Springs, went to the boat parade one year, the parade (me)and one year got the whole family to try the luminaries walk on Spring Bayou but it was not quite the same.
E's one request for this year for us to have our holiday date and today was the day. We headed to the lovely town of Dunedin (our favorite place for Mardi Gras, St. Pats and the Friday Market).
The town was so festive. Many of the shops had "adopted" a street light and decorated them and we heard holiday music every where we went. We roamed the shops and found two new lovely ornaments for our tree...pictures tomorrow.'
And then we headed to Sea Sea Riders for lunch. Love that place. We sat out on the heated porch that surrounds this cottage and had perfectly wonderful food as always.
We may have found our new holiday tradition for our date.
I want to show you the lovely cards we have received so far. Hope you spot yours. These are proudly displayed right inside our front door. And we so appreciate them all.
Kristen and I went out to lunch yesterday for her much overdue Birthday Lunch and shopping spree with Mom day. Chris had the boys and when we got home had them all bathed, hair combed (don't know where they get all that hair!) and smiling. They know Santa is on his way...
Kristen and I, armed with coupons, discounts etc. made a killing at Pottery Barn (her new shelves for the living room) and two kid stores. We found more cute clothes for the boys and just could not resist...so we didn't. We wore ourselves out but these are going to be two of the best dressed little fellas for miles around. They are growing so very fast.
So from our house to yours...happy holidays!
